What inspired you to join? My college roommate encouraged me to join when I moved back to Athens. She had volunteered for the league and knew it would be a great community to make Athens feel like home again.

What song should play whenever you step onto the track/into the bout? Joyride by Kesha

How did you come up with your derby name? My middle name is Joy and I was listening to Joyride by Kesha when I came up with it—hence the song choice.

What advice would you give someone who is considering joining a roller derby league? Don’t be intimidated to try something new! So many of us had never skated or hadn’t skated since we were kids before joining but the league is built to train and support you through your growth. If you want a challenge and a great support system to help you through then derby is for you!
