havoc #44

Year started skating: 2026

Role(s): BDB Skater, External Engagement Committee; Grants and Funding Working Group

What inspired you to join? I’ve been a lifelong athlete and never thought I’d have the chance to play an organized sport again. I also love a challenge, so while the physicality was second nature to me, learning how to skate was a whole new experience. I also had several friends on the team who had been encouraging me to join for years—and in the fall of 2025, I completed the learn to skate program and was hooked.

What song should play whenever you step onto the track/into the bout? Little Girl Gone by Chinchilla

How did you come up with your derby name? Havoc embodies where I am in life. I’m fearless after taking on some big challenges in life. On skates, I aim to be a menace. I’m willing to be disruptive when it comes to upholding the values that matter to me—even if I’m standing alone. I’ve also intentionally built a bigger, stronger body through powerlifting, and I’m proud to put that strength to use here. And I’m unapologetically myself, because it took a long time to find—and love—who I am.

Favorite pre- or post-derby snacks? My favorite pre derby snack is peanut butter toast and creatine. Post derby, I love Snowville chocolate milk.

What advice would you give someone who is considering joining a roller derby league? Training off skates is just as important as training on skates. Taking on this sport means committing to caring for your body in every way. You’re never too old to start—and just as importantly, listen to your body along the way.
