What inspired you to join? Inspired by the movie Whip It, I joined The University of Arizona DerbyCats my Sophomore year of college. They taught me how to skate and showed me what an amazing community derby is. When I moved to the Athens area in October 2024, the first thing I did was beg to be a part of AORD. Literally the morning I arrived here from my cross-country road trip, I quickly unloaded a few things from my car and then booked it to Athens to make it to the homebout! :)

How did you come up with your derby name? I love pigs and used to have pet potbellies, so I wanted my derby name to include pigs somehow. GigglePig is a reference to one of my favorite shows, Brooklyn 99; in the show, Gigglepig is a drug the police department is trying to get off the streets, and it’s comical that something that sounds so funny could possibly be dangerous. I relate.

What advice would you give someone who is considering joining a roller derby league? DO IT!!! Joining roller derby is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Simply being a part of this phenomenal community is life changing, and there are so many ways to be a part of the league, not just as a skater!
